About

Andrea Soung Kim, RDN

My relationship with food and health date back to when I was a baby, ill with an autoimmune disease, of which I was able to recover mostly through healthy eating and individual nutrition. Fast-forward to 9th grade, I had an unhealthy obsession with nutrition labels, calorie counting, and restrictive eating. I gradually emerged out of that phase, and now I enjoy whole foods and treats as I see best fits my gut and health needs. I have come to understand that “one size fits all” does not apply to nutrition care, and that nutrition is instead an individual matter. I realized I want to help individuals like me to achieve their best health through a kind and sustainable relationship with food, as well as influence the future generation in setting their foundation for longevity.

During my college years, I enjoyed teaching health in local high schools and a local pre-school, as well as regularly volunteering at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Other activities I have enjoyed include handing fresh produce to under-served patients through the Bay Area's Food Pharmacy program, and creating a food science lab experiment for research with one of my undergraduate professors.

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2020, completed my dietetic internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and recently passed my CDR exam in August, 2021 to be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. My experience and exhilaration in good food motivate me to pursue a career in dietetics because I believe that I can serve my community best by helping others find healthy relationships with food that fit their needs. I aspire to be a source of nutrition knowledge that people can trust.
